You can NEVER REPLACE an Antivirus application with an Online Scanner! You can use the scanner as a COMPLEMENT though.
The AV guards your PC in the background 24/7, while an Online Scanner only scans on demand – which might be too late!

What’s the point for cloud applications like iCloud, except for using bandwidth and servers ? Who needs an online OS when you must have one anyway to go online ?
