The Earth Seen From Up Above

Posted by: , In: Photography, On: April 15, 2011 | 13 Comments

Have you ever tried to find your hometown on Google Earth? How about the house you grew up in? Doesn’t it look different from up above? Aerial photos always seem to be breathtaking and different, as they show all the objects on earth from a new perspective.

I think there is nothing more fun in an airplane ride than to notice the tiny buildings and trees from up above. Taken from airplanes, helicopters or hot air balloons, aerial photos give us the chance to see the world from a different angle. Even places that you know very well, seem different when you check them out from up above.

These photos taken from the sky are truly amazing and they represent different places from all over the earth. Check them out!

A wonderful range of images – show’s the diversity of our world.

2nd and 4th to last images, as well as the city skyline along the coast, are aerial views of Durban, South Africa.

Absolutely lovely. If you like this kind of photography, I have to recommend the documentary “home”. The whole thing is available on youtube and is a great watch, entirely composed of stunning aerial footage.

I think most of these pictures (if not all) are made by Yann Arthus Bertrand and you can see his work at http://www.yannarthusbertrand.org
As Fraser advised, he made the Home movie too: http://www.youtube.com/homeproject which is a beatiful, interesting and appaling documentary about Earth.
