Need a cheaper Chamaileon alternative?
Similarly to Postcards, Chamaileon is a drag-and-drop email template builder for designers and marketers to create emails faster. But here’s the thing: Chamaileon is more than 20 times more expensive. So why the high price? Does Chamaileon offer more features, or is Postcards a much better value Chamaileon alternative? Let’s find out.
Open EditorThe Breakdown
-
Drag and drop editor
Both Postcards and Chamaileon allow you to drag-and-drop modules into your templates, so you don’t need any coding skills. And both apps come with hundreds of pre-designed templates to speed up your workflow even more.
-
Real-Time Collaboration
Postcards and Chamaileon are evenly matched here, too. On both apps, everyone can co-edit on one draft at the same time, with changes reflected on all teammates’ screens in real time. You can see your teammates’ cursors, too, similarly to working in Google Docs.
-
See it before you send it
Chamaileon’s own help centre is candid about this: it is not an email testing or rendering solution, and it won’t show you how your template looks in different email clients — it points you to Litmus or Email on Acid instead. Postcards has client preview built in.
-
Customizable mobile view
Both Postcards and Chamaileon’s email templates are responsive. But what if you need to tweak your design for mobile? On Postcards, you can — open the mobile view and adjust spacing, sizes, and what shows or hides, all without touching the desktop layout.
Pricing
The price is where there’s a difference between the two apps. A big difference. Chamaileon no longer shares its pricing publicly - perhaps with good reason - and its plans start from $400/month. There is no free Chamaileon plan. All Postcards plans, on the other hand, are much cheaper, priced from free to a maximum $29/month.
-
Exports per month
All Chamaileon plans, starting from $400/month, include unlimited exports. On Postcards, you can choose the Plus plan ($19/month) for up to 20 exports, or Pro at $29/month for unlimited exports like Chamaileon.
-
Stored templates per account
Chamaileon lets you store unlimited templates, but only on plans that cost hundreds of dollars a month. On Postcards, the free Start plan keeps 10 template projects, and both Plus and Pro give you unlimited template projects for a tiny fraction of the price.
-
Data & storage limits
It’s not clear whether data transfer limits also apply in Chamaileon. Postcards, however, offers unlimited image storage and data transfer on every plan, including the free Start plan.
Integrations
Both Postcards and Chamaileon work with every major email service provider, including HubSpot, Mailchimp, Sendpulse, Brevo, and more.

I like that it is easy to use, and I don't need to know how to code. We send emails through Pardot, and I am easily able to export the HTML code and just paste it right into Pardot.

Choose what Designmodo can use
We keep essential cookies on for security, your account, your cart and remembering this choice. Optional categories stay off unless you enable them.
Essential and security
Your login session and account, your shopping cart and checkout, payment and fraud prevention through Stripe, anti-abuse checks through Cloudflare Turnstile, our HelpScout support chat, and remembering this cookie choice and announcements you close. It also covers Metorik, our store reporting, which records how you reached the site so orders can be attributed, and Sentry, which reports errors so we can keep the apps working. Plausible analytics and Pulsetic uptime and performance monitoring are included too; both are cookieless and store no personal identifiers.
Analytics and performance
Cookie-based measurement through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager: page views, referring pages, browser and device details, approximate region from your IP, and product events. Inside our apps it also covers PostHog and Amplitude, which help us understand how features are used; session recording is off. Leave this off and measurement stays cookieless and non-identifying.
Marketing and attribution
Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing: advertising identifiers and landing page attribution, so we can measure which campaigns lead to signups and purchases.
What is not optional: account sessions, cart and checkout, payment and security workflows, and abuse prevention. These are needed to provide the service safely.
